Ngoenga School Celebrates the 34 Nobel Peace Prize Day

Tibetans across the globe celebrate December 10 to commemorate the day when His Holiness the Dalai Lama received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1989.This year marks the 34th anniversary, and Ngoenga School celebrated the day in the presence of the entire school staff and children. The function started with the Tibetan and Indian National Anthem, followed by the offering of a ceremonial scarf to the portrait of HH the Dalai Lama. A long, live prayer was chanted by the staff and the children.

After that, our school headmaster, Ghangri Nyima, gave a short speech relating to this occasion. Refreshments like Tibetan butter tea and sweet rice were served, and they watched a short video clip of H.H. the Dalai Lama’s December 10, 1989, speech. Children performed solo and group songs and dances. The programme ended with a thank-you speech by the school secretary.
