Home science

The school’s Home Science room is used by all classes according to their timetable. While the primary aim is to equip older students with basic cooking and life skills, the class is currently mandatory for all grades to help students learn the names of vegetables, food ingredients, and common kitchen items.

Cooking activities also support the development of fine motor skills, as students practice opening containers, pouring, measuring, operating the stove, and using pinchers to grasp small items. Instruction is guided by key teaching principles for students with special needs, including task analysis—breaking activities into simple, sequential steps—and multi-sensory learning, which engages as many of the five senses as possible.
